We have all heard this before but it can be beneficial to hear this one over and over. In today’s world, many of us have lost some concept of communication, though it may not be intentional! When communicating, consciously listen to what that person is actually saying. Do not listen just to answer. Remember whether you are trying to convey a specific point or solve a disagreement, always try to keep a respectful tone. Properly communicating allows a better understanding on a deeper level. It helps us to solve issues fairly through compromise. Through justifying each other’s feelings and thoughts, communication is a key in keeping a relationship happy and healthy!
This is yet another ‘cliche’ of sorts that we are sure you’ve heard a time or two! Communication facilitates a platform to build trust upon. When you’re in a loving relationship, you must be willing to trust that person to have the best intentions in mind for you and vice versa. It is our responsibility as a partner to make our loved one feel safe, secure, and comfortable. This can be achieved through both communication and action. Practice being honest, supportive, and reliable.
Take pride in yourself and your relationship. Healthy relationships can benefit highly from a sense of self-confidence and self-worth. We should depend on each other for love and support but should not be completely dependent on one another. It is important to enjoy time together and apart, whether this time be alone or with friends. One major problem for relationships is when one or both partners feel a sense of insecurity. Rememeber that tingling feeling you get when you think about that “spark” between you and your loved one. Let that spark remind you that you fell in love with each other for who you are and how you feel for each other , not what you do, how you look, etc.
Lastly, we think patience (and acceptance) are an additional important factor in a healthy and loving relationship! All of us have flaws, none of us are perfect. Patience plays a major role in accepting and learning to love these flaws. Love does not consider changing who the person is but appreciating the imperfections who make our loved one who they are! The longer you are with someone and the more you fall in love with them, the more attractive their flaws become! We realize it is the quirks that drew us in and sparked that love between us that we wouldn’t give up for anything in the world!
